Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Peachtree Corners Chapel on Mar. 18, 2026.
Albert Abraham Chapar, Jr. was born in
Bridgeport, Connecticut, on August 6th, 1959. He was raised in a multifamily house on Howard Avenue in the West End with his parents, brother, cousins, three aunts, and grandmother. Those who knew him might have heard his vivid descriptions of his experiences in an immigrant family, the chatter of foreign languages in his home, and that clangorous town. It was heaven to him, and he was grateful for those experiences his whole life.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1982. He earned his way through college as a co-op student. While working as an engineer at Lockheed Martin, he obtained his MBA. He also began his legal studies and in 1990, secured his Juris Doctor from Georgia State University, where he graduated second in his class. He began his career as an attorney at Smith, Gambrell and Russell Law Firm before he went on to open his own legal practice, The Chapar Firm. He found joy in his profession as a trial lawyer and received many accolades for his work. He knew that people who came to him for help with legal troubles were often facing some of the biggest challenges of their lives. When asked why he worked late or all weekend on a case, he said, "I've been entrusted with this matter. We stand between our client and potential ruin. We have to give them our best." He was proud of the complexity of the legal cases he handled.
He married the love of his life, Nadine, in 1996. They knew they were meant to be husband and wife on their first date. They remained inseparable until his final moment. Albert's greatest joy was his family. Their daughters, Sophia, Natalia, and Helena, meant everything to him. "Family is everything" was a constant refrain.
Albert was an athlete and a scholar. He was inquisitive and kept a childlike sense of wonder at nearly everything. He was an excellent photographer and licensed drone pilot. He played guitar and had a wonderful singing voice. He worked out daily to maintain his physical health. He spoke excellent French and was studying German, Spanish, and Arabic as a joint degree-seeking student at Georgia State University at the time of his passing. He had a keen understanding of history and would have been an excellent competitor on Jeopardy! He believed in the value of immigrants and refugees and the future of this country. He was deeply invested in the success of younger generations, showing genuine interest in them and their futures. His powerful and confident personality belied a profound kindness and empathy. He was deeply sentimental and quickly moved to tears by things of beauty. He never saw that sort of emotion as weakness.
He had many favorite passages from the Bible. Two that stood out and guided his thinking were, "For what shall it profit a man that he should gain the whole world, and lose his soul," and "That which you do unto the least of these, my brethren, you do unto me." He believed Faith should guide people to good works, rather than be employed for gain. He looked to the Parable of the Good Samaritan as his guiding light in matters of Faith.
Albert lost his battle with blood cancer and passed away on March 17, 2026. For those who knew him well, the world is now less interesting.
Albert is survived by his wife Nadine Chapar and their three daughters, Sophia Chapar, Natalia Chapar, and Helena Chapar; as well as his Father-in-Law, Basil Kirma, Mother-in-Law, Nidhal Asker; brother-in-Law and Family, Nameer Kirma, Christiane and Lucas; sister-in-law and family, J Mashburn, Rasha, Philip, and Anna; and close cousins, John and Debbi Nastu, Marie and Joe Norko, Phil Nastu, Pam Nastu Garrett, Lisa Nastu, John Sam, Sheri Socci, and Mary Moran. He is preceded in death by his father, Albert A. Chapar, Sr., his mother, Stella Nastu Chapar, and many aunts and uncles whom he adored.
