William Harold DELLINGER

1925 - 2016

DELLINGER, William Harold Dr. William Harold Dellinger, age 90 of Atlanta, Georgia passed away May 26, 2016 at Kennestone Hospital. Dr. Dellinger was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Oscar David and Ruth Denman Dellinger. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy from 1943-1945 during WWII. He married Barbara Tanner Dellinger in 1947 and was happily married until her death in October of 1998. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta at the University of Georgia and was a member of Psi Omega at Emory University School of Dentistry. He served as President of the Cobb County Dental Society, President of The dental staff of Kennestone Hospital, President of the Northern District Dental Society, President of the Hinman Dental Society, and General Chairman for the Hinman Dental Meeting. He served as the Chairman of the Cobb County Hospital Authority until he moved to Fulton County. He was presented the Cobb County Public Service Award and was awarded a lifetime staff appointment by the Cobb County Hospital Authority. He was the first dental consultant to Ridgeview Institute, and was one of the founders of Smyrna Federal Savings and Loan Association which became United Federal. He served on its Board of Directors as well as the boards of two other financial institutions. He was in private practice in Cobb County from 1959 until his retirement in November of 2014. Dr. Dellinger was a member of the Cherokee Town and Country Club where he loved playing golf. He was also a member at Sea Palms Golf and Tennis Resort in St. Simons Island. Dr. Dellinger was a member of the Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Survivors include his sons, Dr. William H. Dellinger and his wife, Alicia Dellinger of McDonough, Georgia and Mark Dellinger of Marietta, Georgia and grandchildren, Chelsey, Will and Cole Dellinger. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 10:15 am until 11:30 am at the Arlington Memorial Park Pavilion in Sandy Springs. A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Dr. Harold Dellinger will begin at 11:30 am in the Pavilion with Dr. Tim Dowdy officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the Hinman Dental Society, 33 Lenox Pointe, NE Atlanta, Georgia 30324 in memory of Dr. Dellinger.
