William Lancaster Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

William Walker Lancaster, Jr., 52, died Monday, August 8, 2005. The family will receive friends at 2:00 PM on Friday at Moores Funeral Home and a service will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel. Dr. Lancaster was born in Greenville, SC, but made his home in Eatonton for the past 14 years. He received his B.A. in Psychology and Political Science from Emory University in 1974, his M.Ed. in School of Psychometry from Georgia State University in 1978, and his Ph.D. in School Psychology from University of Georgia in 1983. He served as Director of Neuropsychology at the University of Utah Medical School in Salt Lake City, and was Director of Residential Services at New Medico Community Re-Entry Center at Apple Valley, CA. He also served as Assistant Professor of Psychology at Georgia College and most recently was in private practice at Central Georgia Psychological Services of Lake Oconee. Survivors include his wife, Christina Lancaster of Eatonton; two sons, William Walker Lancaster, III, and Ben Lancaster, both of Eatonton; his mother, Nancy Culp of Atlanta, a brother, Mark Lancaster of Decatur, two sisters, Beth Hilliard of Boston, MA, and Sue Trent of Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, please made donations to the William W. Lancaster Children's Educational Fund at Magnolia State Bank. Moores Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

I knew Bill when he was attending Emory and we were part of a group of skydivers. What a good time we all had. He was a bright and funny guy then, always interesting with a lot going on. So sorry to hear of his early demise.

During the months that I worked for Dr. Lancaster, I came to know your family well. I was extremely saddened to learn of his death. He was truly an advocate for children; I enjoyed seeing how much he cared for these little patients. I extend my deepest sympathies toward you & the boys. Dr. Lancaster will be greatly missed.

I knew Bill during his junior and senior year in high school. He was a great guy and I am so very sorry to hear about his death. When I read his obituary, after the shock, I was so pleased to see what he had accomplished in his life. Looks like he spent a lifetime helping others. Christina, I was just having lunch at the office and read the sad notice of Bill's untimely death. When I saw what I thought was Bill's name, I couldn't believe it. Pulling up this website has confirmed it's your "Bill", as I see your name. My thoughts are with you and your family during this time of grief in your lives.
