I just heard him narrate his story on PBS. When I wanted to learn more about him, I was so saddened to learn he had passed. What a role model to perseverance. He departed way to soon.

I just found out about Dr. Lynn Weavers passing last night, and I am still in shock and am grieving with a heavy heart .
I initially met Lynn when joined the Society of Black Academic Surgeons in Atlanta in 2002. Lynn and his wife Kay were the very first people that I met and they welcomed me both tithe organization as well as to Atlanta.
Lynn was very supportive of my desire to achieve goals in Academic surgery . He, along with Kay were also very down to earth, but always professional people. Im just so sorry to learn of his passing now, but he will always be remembered . My sincere heartfelt condolences to his family.

I just watched Dr. Weaver's story on PBS. I was moved like never before. It takes only one human, one kind act, to change the world. Slowly, but surely. We HAVE to be THAT human. Thank you Dr. Weaver for sharing. R.I.P.

I just watched Dr. Weavers Story Corps "People Helped You, Whether You Knew It Or Not" on PBS-KERA in Dallas,TX.
It moved me so much that I watched all of his groundbreaking griot contributions via the Story Corps archives.
Dr. Weavers speech, challenging the current student body of West High School, in Knoxville,TN, to actively end all discrimination is magnificent. His frank assessment on the permanent scars of racism is masterful.
To his family and friends, my heartfelt sympathy on his passing.
May God soothe your souls with the spiritual assurance that Dr. William Lynn Weaver is resting in power.

Dr. Weaver was a great friend and mentor. He believed in excellence and putting others first. He could also communicate awesome stories to emphasize any point he was making. One of the fondest memories I have is when I mentioned to him that I was having a tough time achieving a particular goal. Dr Weaver mentioned in a very direct yet understanding way that while he understood my challenges, that I was as he put it Not the only soldier in the rain. I was Stunned! Momentarily confused. He went on to describe hurdles he faced while while working on a similar project. About half way through his story, I waved the white flag. You are right Dr. Weaver, I said. I am not the only soldier in the rain. Thank You Dr. Weaver, Rest In Heaven. Edward McCree Jr.

Like others who have written here, I only knew Dr. Weaver from Story Corps and this morning I was so very sad to hear of his premature passing. I only hope that he didn't suffer too much. My condolences and prayers go to his family. I loved the way he spoke of his wife and father. Those mentions alone told me that he was a great father himself, and a kind and loving husband. I'm sure his family are all bereft but I hope they will find some peace knowing how blessed they were to have such an apparently thoughtful, loving, introspective, and intelligent family man to claim as their own. Peace and blessings...

I only know Dr. Weaver through his recordings on Storycorps on NPR. He always made me smile and tear up at once. I loved his tributes to his father. He once said he lived everyday hoping to be half the man his father was - it seems to me he more than achieved that goal.
Rest in peace, Dr. Weaver.

Lynn was a wonderful friend and colleague and perhaps most importantly a superb role model for the students at Morehouse School of Medicine. His death is a loss not only to friends and family but to the House of Medicine.

Dr. Weaver, was a wonderful man, well respected in his field, and loved by his family and friends. His presence will be greatly missed, but the impact he had on the people he touched will go on forever. I always felt welcomed and loved just like family.
"I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.:
- Psalm 27:13 (NIV)
Dr. Weaver experienced this throughout his life, now, in his transition, he will have peace.
My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will comfort the grieving, and that the warmth of the love they shared will bring smiles and joy, as time goes on.
