David Bock, 71, of Atlantic, died Thursday, July 18, 2024, while fishing with his best friend, Scott Small. He was taken to Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa.
The son of Kennith John and Eleanor Sophie (Brehmer) Bock, David Lynn, was born January 20, 1953, in Atlantic. His early years were spent running around Atlantic with his brother, Howard, doing every rebellious and reckless thing they could think of. After graduating from Atlantic High School in 1971, he attended college and then started his own business. He spent 44 years as the proud owner of Bock Siding and Contracting and never, ever, ever took a sick day.
A few years after starting his own business, some friends introduced him to Peggy Ann Rabe and they were married in Las Vegas, Nev. Together, they had Cody and Stacey; their most precious gifts to this world.
Though he was relentlessly hard working, he did know how to play hard, as well, and could often be found fishing with friends and family, traveling with friends to Vegas, taking annual trips to Okoboji, and the past couple of years he spent every weekend at his lake house in Lake View. Throughout his life, he loved sharing a few brews with his buddies and collecting hundreds of beer signs along the way. In his final years he prized working on his Old-Fashioned Farm Windmill. But he ultimately treasured time spent with his kids, very special companion, Rocka, and his granddaughter, Emiliana. Oh, and time with his daughter's estranged cat "Louis" that no one else could stand, but David fell in love with it and absolutely adored caring for until his final days.
He is survived by his daughter, Stacey Bock of Omaha, Neb.; son, Cody Bock of Ankeny; special companion, Rocka Rasmussen of Atlantic; granddaughter, Emiliana; and brother, Howard (Karen) Bock of Atlantic.
David is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Peggy (Rabe) Bock.
