George Fiebelkorn Obituary
George W. Fiebelkorn, 89, formerly of Audubon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at the Community Care Center in Stuart.
Born on July 21, 1936, in his grandmother's home in Dallas, S. D., George Walter Fiebelkorn was the eldest of six children born to Walt and Evelyn (Hansen) Fiebelkorn. From a young age, George cultivated a deep love for farming, spending his early years working alongside local farmers and helping with daily chores-a passion that would shape the course of his life.
On Oct. 3, 1959, George married the love of his life, Ada Schroeder, in Pierre, S.D. Together, they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage and raised five children: Rick, Deb, Martha, Kim, and Randy.
George's work ethic and versatility led him to a career in both agriculture and construction. While living in South Dakota, he worked on farms and contributed to major infrastructure projects, including bridges and dams. In 1969, the family relocated to Vail, and later settled in Audubon, where George continued his work as a farm laborer for Nick Jensen, John Jessen, and Harold Griffith. Even after retirement, he remained active, doing seasonal work for the Weber boys.
George found joy in the simple pleasures of life-playing cards, visiting with friends, camping, traveling, and taking long drives. But above all, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his beloved family.
George was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ada; his grandson Nic Baier and great-grandson Case Jacob Wilson; his parents, Walt Fiebelkorn and Evelyn Fischer; his brothers, Butch, Bill, and Kenny Fiebelkorn; his sister Vivian and her husband Jim Clifford; his parents-in-law, John and Clara Schroeder, and Opal and John Geaghan; his infant brother-in-law, Alvin John Schroeder; his brother-in-law Bernard Schroeder and his wife Lenora; and sister-in-law Mary Hendricksen and husband Abner.
George is survived by his brother Donald (Diane) Fiebelkorn of Gregory, S. D.; his sister-in-laws Sherry Fiebelkorn of Exira, and Bonnie Fiebelkorn of Spokane, Wash.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Rick (Mavis) Fiebelkorn of Kimballton, Deb (Ron) Hensel of Atlantic; Martha (Kevin) Baier of Lewis; Kim Fiebelkorn and Bruce Reha of Grimes; and Randy (Brandy) Fiebelkorn of Exira.
George was a proud grandfather to Alan (Mariko) Jackson, George (Andrea) Fiebelkorn, Becky (Josh) Johnson, Chad Bishop and Christina Hanna, Liz King and Dale Davis, Caroline (Dustin) Freeman, John King, Zac and Trent Baier, Tyler (Millie) Fiebelkorn, Jacob (Samantha) Fiebelkorn, Brooke (Tyler) Wilson, Robin Hensel, and Adam (Whitney) Hensel.
He was also blessed with 25 great-grandchildren: Drake and Amaya Jackson; Emma, Ricky, and Shooter Fiebelkorn; Bella Davis and Leo Pieken; Sideon Moore and Ada Freeman; Hailey and Lillian Hensel; Kaya, Ben, and Madi Fiebelkorn; Ryder, Jayden, Rayden, Jayce, and Jozey Fiebelkorn; Trigg and Koy Wilson; and Mason Johnson; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
