Glenn Dora Lumpkin was born on May 27, 1923 to Archie and Lola (Higgins) Stude in Oakland. She graduated from Oakland High School. After graduation, Glenn Dora moved to San Diego, Calif. to live with her aunt, Rosie, and this is where she met William Lumpkin. The two were married on Sept. 28, 1945 in Council Bluffs. Three children were born to this union: Barbara, Charles, and Bruce.
After William was honorably discharged from the United States Navy, the couple settled in Hancock. Her most recent job was working as an Avon representative for over 20 years.
Glenn Dora enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren. She loved playing cards and was involved in a card club in Lewis. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Oakland V.F.W., and Silver Creek United Methodist Church in Hancock.
Glenn Dora moved to the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland in May of 2012, and this is where she died on Thursday, March 14, 2013 having attained the age of 89 years, nine months, and 15 days. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lee Holland of Los Angeles, Calif.; and sons, Charles William Lumpkin and his wife Marian of Hancock, and Bruce Allan Lumpkin and his wife Sandy of Hancock; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.
