Teri Lynn Sllence

1975 - 2023

Teri Lynn Silence, 47, of Atlantic, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at her home.
Teri was born to Vernon and Leanne (Marxen) Silence of Atlantic on Nov. 14, 1975, in Omaha, Neb. She grew up in Atlantic surrounded by five feisty but loving siblings who spent most of their summers at the Atlantic Public Pool. When she wasn't at the pool, she was in Brownies or playing softball. Teri was as tough as they came in her early years, not shying away from defending a friend or family when in need. That characteristic didn't change the rest of her life.
Once she got older, she drove what family called "The Blue Banana" which carried her to many a road trip for fishing, sightseeing or just riding around with friends for countless hours. When not on the road, Teri was watching cult week classic movies like "Shark Week" on Syfy and other horror classics. She was a big fan of Halloween, Little House on the Prairie, NCIS, Law and Order, and most movies that would scare the bejesus out of you! Teri loved eating at Plaza Azteca and watching the Dallas Cowboys. Teri resisted the use of most modern technology and continued to use her old flip phone and used her check book to pay her bills until her final days.
Teri had a huge heart. Though appearing to live in her own little world, she loved being with her siblings, spending most of her time with friends, and serving pretty much everyone she knew. In her own therapeutic and nonjudgmental way, Teri was able to help keep the family together when times were challenging. She never missed a family birthday and remained interested and involved in their lives until the end.
Teri is survived by her two sons, Jackson Bailey of Anita, Patrick Bailey of Des Moines; mother, Leanne Silence of Atlantic; brothers, John (Lisa) Silence of Atlantic, Chad Silence of Atlantic; sisters, Sheri (Mark) LaJeuness of Atlantic, Angela (Jim) Behrens of Atlantic, Jodi (Craig) Woodard of Atlantic, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends that were like family.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents; nephew, Corbin Silence, and many good friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, Aug. 15, 5-7 p.m., at Roland Funeral Home.
