Todd A. Fief, 56, of Atlantic, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Atlantic Specialty Care.
Todd Anthony Fief was born on Oct. 11, 1961, in Concordia, Kan., the son of Larry Melvin and Linda Kathleen (Donnelly) Fief. In 1966, the family moved to Atlantic for the unique educational opportunities that were available. Todd began school at the age of six in a five-room residential school house supported by the Atlantic School System. His teachers were Margaret Reimer and Colleen Hansen. He later attended the Pymosa District School House until the age of 21.
Todd lived at the Lutheran Group Home until moving to his permanent residence on East 7th Street. While there he lived with three roommates, Jack, Barry and Paul who soon become like brothers to him. He worked at Cass Incorporated for 34 years, from 1981 to 2015. In 2015, he began living with his mother, Linda, and in June of 2017, moved to Atlantic Specialty Care.
Todd was a member of both SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was very active in the community; always wanting to do his best. He was an avid sports fan; football being his favorite. Todd typically rooted for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones or the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but that varied depending on who he was talking with. Todd never knew a stranger and was always up for a conversation. He also enjoyed participating in sports; especially bowling at the Special Olympics where he earned many gold medals. Some of the things Todd loved besides his family and friends were donuts, country music and Walt Disney.
Todd is survived by his mother, Linda of Atlantic; sister, Terri Hopkins and her husband, Dennis of Creston; brother, Perry Fief of Atlantic; nieces, Bailey, Bridget and RaeAnne Hopkins; aunts and uncles, Pat (Jerry) Istas, Christine (Kenny) Marcotte, Julie Balderson, Tom (Carol) Donnelly, Carol Fief and Ron Fief; and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry and his grandparents, Elmer and Dell Fief and Earl and Chi Donnelly.
