Alexandra Wechsler Obituary

On December 12, 2013 we lost our beautiful and vivacious daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and dear friend Alexandra Marie Wechsler. She was 26. Alex was born in the Republic of Korea on October 16, 1987, and "came home" to the United States exactly four months later. She attended high school at Placer Union High School in Auburn where she participated in track and field, tennis, and tied the school record for number of touchdowns in a single powder-puff football game. Alex was published in the 2005 edition of the International Book of Poetry and her art was displayed in campus shows at Truckee Meadows Community College. She loved winter sports, stiletto heels, her cat Mr. Lilly, and had an unparalleled knack for gift-giving and cooling blackjack games.
Alex is survived by her parents, Fred and Jan Wechsler; brother and sister-in-law, Ben Wechsler and Jamie Fearn; sister and brother-in-law, Samantha and Michael Miller; grandmother, Anastasia Gore; grandfather, Joseph Poggi; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was a doting "Aunt Alex" to nephews Wylie, Matthew, and Zachary. Her charm, fashion, humor, tenacity and heart will be greatly missed by all.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers or cards, her family believes Alex is best honored with donations to the Eastern Social Welfare Society Hospital, C/O Love the Children, 221 W. Broad St., Quakertown, PA, 18951.

The Wechsler Family,
I am very saddened to learn of "Wexies" passing. She was a team favorite for the Lady Hillgal Track Team and a spiritual leader among all of us involved with her. A vibrant and loving girl. She had an infectious and playful personality that embodied what youth should be about. Never too serious but always ready for the competition. May God comfort you with the knowledge that Alex was loved and that the journey she led was littered with fond memories of her time here in our earthly state.

Alex and I went to elementary school together. The last time we crossed paths was on a vacation with friends. We had not seen each other in years but as soon as I saw her she brought an immediate smile to my face and it felt as though we picked up right where we left off. So sorry to read about your loss of Alex. There are so many memories I have of your children and mine playing together when you lived down the street in New Tripoli. An amazing friend that kept smiles on the faces of everyone around her. I remember her going away party and seeing how many of us loved her and would miss her dearly. Alex was a huge part of my childhood memories. One of my favorite memories of us together was when Alex held a Halloween party at her house. Alex, my sister Kate, and I were getting ready together "trying" to put on Halloween makeup. We were in elementary school... enough said! That's another thing I'll remember about her, she was always smiling/laughing and it was contagious! I'm so sorry she is no longer with us, it would have been great to laugh with her again. My prayers and thoughts go out to her family, she will be missed!

Alex was our daughters first friend in the northwestern community. They even shared chicken pox! We just watched movies of the girls celebrating birthdays before we learned this sad news. We will cherish the memories and her friendship!

Alex, you are always going to be my dear friend. Every conversation we had, every text we sent each other, every hug we shared and every thought of you makes me smile. We helped each other through our trying times and saw the good (and humor) in every situation. I still have the "A" on the back of my phone case, and I'm going to keep it forever. Alex was a bright light in high school. I loved seeing her happy face and she could always make something into a funny joke. I wish I had seen her more often after high school but I've thought about her a lot living here in South Korea. Rest in Peace dear friend.

Wexy! This is SOOO SAD! I know that you will be deeply missed!! I will always remember how funny and bright you were!! We are so blessed to have a wonderful, beautiful, smart young lady in our lives. However, now our father has brought her home and now we have a wonderful, beautiful smart Guardian Angel watching over us! My heart goes out to the Wechsler family. I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Alex and my daughter, Anna, were best friends in high school and beyond. Alex helped my daughter move to Reno and even got her a job. Because of Alex's encouragement, Anna has built a life for herself in Reno. I will always be grateful to Alex for this kindness. She was a sweet girl, and I always enjoyed having her around when she came to our house to visit with Anna. She was funny, warm and beautiful. Please let us know when a memorial will be held.
