Christopher Sainsbury Obituary

Christopher Blake Sainsbury
11/17/1986 - 11/21/2012

A mom's worse fear is my reality as I write an obituary for my first born child, Christopher Blake Sainsbury. He was born in Roseville on October 17, 1986 and died on November 21, 2012. In addition to leaving me, Susan McQueen, he also leaves behind his brother, Elliott Sainsbury and his sister, Leah Sainsbury; also his paternal grandma, Dorothy Sainsbury, Penn Valley. He also leaves his beloved daughter, Austin Helaine, of Omaha, Nebraska. Christopher was torn from the love of his life, Katie Pulliam, Grass Valley, before their lives could be joined. Christopher is preceded in death by his father, Bill Sainsbury.
Christopher went through the LUSD schools; Kindergarten through 6th grade at Loomis Grammar, and Placer Elementary for 7th & 8th grades. Christopher went on to Del Oro before graduating from Maidu HS in 2005. After graduation, Christopher joined the Army and served his country proudly for seven years; he was deployed for two tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan. He was awarded a purple heart for gunshot wounds received during a patrol in Salam Pak in May of 2007.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Support Our Troops, Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital (Salt Lake City), or a charity you prefer. Most importantly, please promise your family you will wear a seat belt: they do save lives.
"Christopher, we will miss you so much."

Chris was such a wonderful person. It's not fair to lose such a good man at such a young age. He accomplished so much, though, during his lifetime. He will live on through the happiness he brought to everyone and the memories shared.

Susan,

Although I did not have the pleasure of meeting your son, and do not yet know you very well myself, you have touched my son's life in the very short time you have known him. At his age there are very few people a boy wants to let in his life, and whether you know it or not, he has welcomed you with an open heart. If the way you have impacted my son is even the tiniest reflection of the way you raised Christopher and molded his life, his time here on Earth was not unlike what Heaven must be.

With heartfelt sympathy & love

May this promise help you cope with your tremendous loss.(Isaiah 2:4) . . .And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore. . .

Christopher, you were a true blue friend. Your heart, lightning quick wit, and warm humor always lifted me up. Our families grew together and you are apart of my happiest childhood memories. You always seemed to phone right when I needed you most and I admire you more than anyone I have known. Your friendship and love was enduring and unconditional and you were often the only one I could truly be myself with, especially through rough times. Thank you for singing country songs and Louis Armstrong to me over the phone, for making me smile and for being an amazingly charming and bright young man. I am blessed to have known you! I am missing you terribly. Thank you for serving our country. Thank you for your beliefe in me and for making all around you feel so special and unique in your eyes. I love you forever Christopher. Susan, Elliot, and Leah we are thinking of you and I send you all of my love.

Thought my interaction with Chris was limited to youth group in high school, I will always remember Chris as a gentle hearted and sweet person. He always struck me as warm and friendly, and you could see he cared deeply for his friends. I love to see that in people. He will be missed by many. Even in my limited interaction with him, he will leave his mark!

He was a sweet and kind man and I am proud to have called him a friend. My husband and I are saddened by his loss and I have nothing but prayers for his entire family.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Christopher Blake Sainsbury our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Christopher. And to Christopher it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedoms while deployed with the U.S. Army. Christopher, you are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Christopher's family and loved ones.
