Heather Schilling Obituary

Heather Nel
Schilling
1/14/1964 - 6/10/2013

Heather lost her fight with cancer and passed away peacefully at her home in Newcastle on June 10, 2013, in the arms of her husband, Paul George Schilling. She was 49. She is also survived by her son, Paulie Laurance Schilling (age 8); parents, Laurance (Larry) Briggs of Bolton, Conn., and Brinda Van of Willington, Conn.; and sister, Laura Briggs of Stafford Springs, Conn.
Heather moved from Conn., with her husband, Paul, in 1993. She lived and worked in the Bay Area for 10 years before moving to Sacramento to attend nursing school at Sierra College where she graduated with honors and became an Oncology RN at Sutter Roseville. Heather will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind heart.
A service was held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at The Flower Farm, in Loomis. The family asks that in lieu of flowers you may donate to The Heather Schilling Trust Fund, 780 Crooked Lane, Newcastle, Calif. Donations will go toward a memorial at Paulie's school, Harvest Ridge Charter School where she regularly volunteered. I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Heather's passing. I was a former classmate of Heathers in Bolton. I can't imagine the pain you all are feeling right now. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I truly hope she is at peace after her long and courageous battle.

Paul - forgive my thoughtless omission of your name in our previous message. I have been reading your incredible journal of Heather's long journey with this horrible illness and am convinced that no one could have been more wonderful, caring and loving....may you find peace knowing that you could not have done more.....and that your love and devotion were beyond all else...God bless you and Paulie....

I have known Heather and her sister, Laura, since we were kids in Bolton. She was a kind, compassionate person whom I had the pleasure of continuing to spend time with when we worked at BVH. She always followed her heart and I always admired her for that. I am so sorry to hear about her passing. Condolences to her family.

Heather was a special person who left a light in the heart of everyone she met. Having worked with her at BVH in CT, her generous and caring spirit was appreciated every day. She lived life without fear and with grace. My deepest sympathy to Paul, Paulie and her family.
