Laurie Goss Obituary

Laurie Marie Goss

Laurie Marie Goss, age 53, lost her courageous battle with cancer on November 1, 2017. She was a resident of Rio Oso, Calif. Beloved wife of thirty-four years of George Goss; loving mother and inspiration to Cody Goss (Sofia Goss), Heidi Mickelson (Bobby Mickelson), and Madison Goss. Further survived by her parents Ted and Jean Hansen; brother Michael Hogan; grandchildren Weston, Carter and a little girl on the way; other relatives and many dear friends.
She had a passion for agriculture that was spread to thousands. She touched lives of many through her twenty-seven years as an Agriculture Teacher at East Nicolaus High School. Laurie always had the can-do attitude, and expected everyone around her to do the same. You could always find Laurie on the sidelines cheering on her children and students, on the road traveling to shows and conferences, or in the barns and pastures working with her animals.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017, in the Main Exhibit Hall at the Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds, 442 Franklin Rd, Yuba City, Calif. . In lieu of flowers, the family asks all donations be made to the East Nicolaus Alumni Association, P.O. Box 673, Pleasant Grove, CA 95668

I will never forget her compassion and hug when I ran into her immediately after my husband had just been diagnosed with cancer. She reached out to me. I had no idea she was fighting it as well. Laurie was wonderful and I will remember her every time we think of raising lambs in 4H. She awelcomed my son to sit in on her lamb group in Flatlands 4H when our group didn't have a leader. We learned so much, she seemed to do anything for the students. I loved it too, what an experience!
