Neil Hammerman Obituary
1/15/1936- 11/09/2008
Neil was born and raised in San Francisco, attended Abraham Lincoln High School, College of San Mateo, and Golden Gate University. He retired from the Daly City Police Department in 1979. He also served as a Private Investigator and Corporate Security for several national and international companies. Neil served 7 years in the U.S. Navy Sea-Bee Reservist. He was a 35 year member and Past Potentate of Asiya Shriners Temple in San Mateo. He was an active member and Past Exalted Ruler of Folsom Elks Lodge #2735. Neil was also a member of the Crocker Masonic Lodge of Daly City, and Folsom Masonic Temple #64.
Neil is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca, his devoted children, Debbie, Christine, Joy and Alejan- dro and many grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend the following memorial services at Folsom Elks Lodge #2735, 806 Reading St., Folsom, Calif., on Sunday, November 16, at 2pm, Masonic Lodge #64 at 1000 Duchow Way, Folsom, Calif., on Saturday, November, 22 at 11am, and at the Asiya Shriners Temple, 1925 Elkhorn Court, San Mateo, Calif., on Saturday, December 13, at 11am.
The family requests donations be sent to the Shriners Childrens hospita. in Sacramento, or to the Calif- ornai-Hawaii Elks Major Project in lieu of flowers.

I met Neil my first day as a Daly City Police Officer Aug. 6th 1979 just before he retired. Neil was the Departments Range Master at the time and after the academy qualified myself and the other new officers. He also took us on a tour of the juvenile courts. He was a true professional and even though I only got to work with him for a short time I came to like and respect him. I always remembered him fondly.

I was a Daly City Police intern when I first met Neil in 1966. I recall going on ride-alongs with Neil and learning new things about police work in those early years. Neil will be missed by those who knew and worked with him. God bless him for his years of service to the DCPD.

I attended Lincoln High with Neil,and later He joined the Daly City Police Dept. I voted for his disability retirement while on the City Council. Later I met Neil and his wife at a Shrine event. Neil was a warm and likeable person who never stopped working. Neil had many friends who will greatly miss him. My best to his wonderfull wife.
