Patrice Arp Obituary

Patrice Lynn Arp
9/16/1953 – 1/13/2012

Our hearts are very sad with the loss of a Bright Light that Shined upon all of us.
Patrice Lynn Arp of Colfax, Calif., passed away peacefully on January 13, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer.
Patrice was born in Auburn, Calif., on September 16, 1953 to Fred and Ann M. Arp. A lifelong resident of Placer County, she attended Placer Hills Elementary School, Colfax High School, and UC Davis.
She worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Raley's Pharmacy in Auburn for over 21 years. She volunteered in her community and inspired others by living her life one day at a time and making the most of each and every day. She was an avid reader and loved music, movies, crossword puzzles and her animals.
She was proceeded in death by her Husband, Steve Gillis.
She is survived by her loving son, Taylor Claxton; and her two beautiful granddaughter's, Ivy and Georgia Claxton of Roseville Calif., whom were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Fred (Jane) Arp; and sister, Anita (Ed) Norton; and many niece's, nephew's and cousin's. She leaves behind many dear friends, customers and co-workers who will miss her kindness, knowledge, compassion, and witty sense of humor. Her beauty, grace and charm made the bright light that shined upon all of us who knew her and loved her. Patrice never knew a stranger and was a friend to everyone.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to a charity of choice.

I was so sad to hear about Patrice.
Over the years Patrice has helpd my mom, my daughter, and me with our pharmacy needs. Her big smile and welcoming manner always made us feel better. She was so friendly and efficient and was quick to slove any problem that arose.
I miss seeing her behind the counter and getting a wave and her beautiful smile.
With sympathy to her family and friends,

Patrice will always be a cherished part of my childhood. We had precious safe adventures on the Arp Ranch, embellished with Patrice's quick wit and active imagination.
Our routine visit would start on the huge swing, to see who could jump out the furthest. Then, we would hike down the long driveway, stop in the chicken coop check for fresh eggs and look into the barn for new kittens. Then, we would continue around Gramma Arp's House to the upper pond. We captured large polliwogs; put them into bowls eager for them to mature into toads.
On hot dusty days, we would swim in the cold concrete swimming pool, while watching out for the water snakes - which we were sure our brothers had put into it. Most visits ended with us sitting on the girls' bedroom floor between the twin beds, playing games and laughing for hours.
I am very sad that Patrice left us too quickly, but she will always be a cherished memory that we all hold in our hearts.

From the Brandon family from Placer hills road, we all feel your pain, and will also miss her. We have not seen her or most of the family for many years, but they were a very big part of our life as kids. We all would go to the Arp ranch and swim and always have a good time. Russ and Fred would always be together doing something, and I (Tyke) was younger, so I was out.Mike was even younger by 5 years, so I don't know what he did.
But as time went on we all had a great time with the Arps.....
God bless all of you The Brandon Family

Patrice was my best friend as a child and we spent countless hours together. We even made a raft on her pond called the "Pink Panther!" Her mother was my blue bird leader and her father was a kick in the pants.I cherished our relationship and will miss her always.

I am a longtime pharmacy customer and knew Patrice for her many years of good service and also before she cut her beautiful curly hair which made her smile when she finally did as she always was " fighting the curl"! We had great conversations and her customer service was excellent & kindness prevailed and I shall miss her and feel fortunate to have known her. I wish you all comfort and peace in the loss of this good lady, mom, grandmother that she was!
Sincerely,
