My heartfelt condolences to the family of Ray Ely. I met Ray several years ago when I volunteered to serve lunch at the senior center. Ray was my very favorite person there and when I left to take on more hours at work, we continued our friendship by telephone. I so loved hearing the stories and adventures from childhood on. He had an amazing work ethic and knowing I was apprehensive he encouraged me to pursue training in a new field. He told me his attitude had always been "if someone else can do it then I can too" In the years I was acquainted with Ray he never had a negative thing to say about a single soul and I admired that in him. We were long overdue for one of our catch-up talks and I surely will miss him. You all are in my prayers for the peace and comfort that God can give.

Over the last few years of my Grandpa's life his short term memory was not so good but he could sure remember his life as a child and young man. When I would visit he'd tell stories of his childhood with his brother Bud, how he first met my Granny Marcelle and even the words he asked her father the first night they met, how he would ride shotgun with his Dad as they delivered their moonshine into town during the proabition, all the cars and miles he had driven over his lifetime and all the different careers he had.
He was sure a good Grandfather to me, always someone I knew I could count on and many times I did just that. I remember when I had Tyson, him and Granny would come to my house everyday to help me with my new son. In the summers Grandpa and Granny would live at Ice House cause that was where Grandpa would hall logs out of. When Tyson was really young we went to stay with Grandpa and Granny at Ice House and rode with Grandpa to get a load of logs and then headed down the mountain to the mill in Lincoln. Well, along the way,Tyson, who was sitting on my lap threw his binky out the window of the truck, I let a yell out of me " Tyson lost his binky!" Grandpa slammed on the brakes and we came to a screeching halt, I jumped out and ran back along the road till I found the binky, We couldn't have made it very far without that thing!
I'm sure thankful I have all the good memories to think back on. Grandpa, you will surely be missed by me....but just like you said to me " look for me on the mountain tops dear, that's where I will be", I will think of you on every mountain top Grandpa.....
I love you, Marsha
