Bob passed away on December 27, 2006 in Auburn with his loving family at his side. He was born on November 16, 1926 in Butler, Oklahoma, but grew up on a farm in Brady, Montana as the second youngest of nine children.
He is truly missed -- his twinkling curiosity, kindness, honesty, resilience, and natural intelligence. He was a talented wordsmith. His earthliness grounded us all. He was interested in all aspects of life, and never lost touch with knowing more. His time was never idle and his life was filled with a variety of experiences. He was raised in a loving farm family in rural Montana, then served as a soldier in Japan and later was educated in Houston, before receiving degrees in Social Sciences and Education from San Francisco State and Stanford University.
He married and raised a family while teaching and counseling at Carlmont High School in Belmont. Those years were filled with gardening, climbing in the Sierra, working with young adults, teaching night school and traveling to foreign lands. Later he created a successful business in career development, founding CFKR Career Materials, Inc., in 1975. After retiring from Carlmont in 1982, he relocated to Meadow Vista, moving his business to Auburn.
Bob continues to be an inspiration to many of the next generation. He was always curious and embraced each and every day with a song--giving as much to the day as the day gave to him and often much more.
He is survived by his loving family, wife Virginia Dorn Kauk, brother Elmer Kauk of Rocklin, sisters; Gladys Yeager and Florence Weist of Montana, children; Paula, Roberta, Lee and Leslie Kauk, grandchildren; Aaron and Sienna Weldon, Colby, Chelsea and Weston Kauk, Falon and Jasper Stoval, Christina Fisher, Sara Riddle, caring friends Vicki Sanders and Lila Miner and many others touched by his life.
A celebration of life for family and friends is being planned to honor Bob's memory.
