Ronald Denton Obituary

Ronald "Ronnie" Michael Denton, 56, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, in Roseville, California.
Born on November 19, 1968, in Carmichael, California, Ronnie was deeply rooted in his community, attending local elementary schools, graduating from Placer High School in 1986, and later studying at Sierra College.
Ronnie began his firefighting journey at the age of 14, demonstrating a passion for service from a young age. For 31 years, he dedicated his life to the fire service, answering his calling with passion and commitment. Firefighting was more than just a career-it was his mission to protect and serve others. He first gained hands-on emergency response experience working for ETS Ambulance from 1986 to 1991. He then served with Auburn Fire from 1993 to 2003 before continuing his career with Placer Foothills Consolidated from 1982 to 2005. In 2005, he joined CAL FIRE, where he served until 2013. Through his bravery and selflessness, Ronnie touched countless lives, embodying the true spirit of service.
Ronnie is survived by his fiancée, Nicole Ridge; his children, Shannon Denton and Austin Yancey; his mother, Linda Okray, and stepfather, Jeff Okray; siblings, Tammy Battistessa, Cody Sweet, Jessie Osborne, Joshua Sprague, Jennifer Okray, Edward Okray, and Johanna Perez; his aunt Janie Pittman, who lovingly donated her kidney to him; uncles William Denton, Kevin Denton, and Mike Denton; as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Jean Atkins. Ronnie will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and fellow firefighters.
Those who knew Ronnie will remember him as a social butterfly with an infectious smile and laughter. Ronnie's selfless nature defined him-he was always ready to help anyone, whether family, friend, or stranger in need. His selfless nature and ability to connect with others made him beloved by all. He was always there to offer support, comfort, and a listening ear. His spirit of adventure and humor brought light to every room, and his dedication to helping others extended far beyond his work.
In lieu of flowers, Ronnie requests donations be made to the Auburn Hook & Ladder Company No.1 in the form of check or cash mailed to:
Auburn Hook & Ladder Company #1, P.O. Box 9212, Auburn, CA 95603
Or to Westside Church in Roseville by visiting their website: https://westsideroseville.churchcenter.com/giving.
Ronnie's legacy of kindness, courage, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A celebration of Ronnie's life will take place on Sunday, April 6th, at the Sierra Building at the Auburn Fairgrounds from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Ronnie, from a very young age, knew well that he would grow up to be a brave fireman. It was in his blood to protect & serve. So precious, so loved. Forever he´ll always be my little, red-headed fireman. May God´s love comfort his family & friends. ~With deep, heartfelt sympathy, Vern & Connie Root
