Yoshiko Goto Obituary
12/10/1919 - 7/12/15
Yoshiko was born in San Francisco, Calif.and moved to Penryn, Calif. in 1949 where she and her husband owned and ran a grocery store (Goto's Market) for 40 years.
She was the mother of three children, two grandkids, and two son-in-laws.
She moved to Boston to live with her son and endured 14 years of extreme New England winters.
Immediate family survivors are: Son Robert; granddaughters; Sara and Susanna; and son-in-laws; Adam and Doug.
Placer Buddhist Church is handling the arrangements for a private service. Date and Time of service to be determined. Please contact Placer Buddhist Church for more information.

We use to go Gotos market all the time when we moved to Newcastle from Sacramento. They were such beautiful people to be remembered. May they rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of meeting Yoshiko and sharing visits with her while caring for Bob's cats. We always had wonderful chats and I loved hearing her stories about growing up in San Francisco and the family's grocery store. She was a petite bundle of energy and light and I am very grateful that I had the chance to spend time with her. I know her family will miss her dearly.

To the Goto Family,
Goto's market was a part of my childhood. During the summer my sisters and cousins would make the walk up to Goto's to purchase nickel candy bars or ice cream. We loved the store and your families patience with us when we couldn't decide what to purchase. Our family would purchase the best meat, fish and hot dogs from the meat market. We would sometimes stare at the fish being beheaded and cleaned on your father's butcher table. The Goto family left an impression on my young life. One that will never be forgotten. My family lived in Newcastle and Penryn. I too, often think about the Goto family.

The Goto family, your mom was a grand hard working lady, I lost touch with her after she moved to Boston to be with her son and her granddaughter, whom she loved a great deal.
I knew for more than 20 years. I worked at B of A in Newcastle then in Auburn. I know that she will be missed, I thought of her often.
Very sorry for your loss. She was a true friend.
