Yvonne Sturm Obituary
11/11/1938-8/3/2007
Friends and family say good bye to longtime resident and former local business owner Yvonne Sturm. Born in Kennett, Mo., the Smith family moved to Newcastle/Ophir, Calif. area where Yvonne was raised with her brother Paul. She attended Placer High School where she was an outstanding student and award-winning majorette. After graduating in 1956, her attention to detail led her to become an Executive Secretary at Aerojet for 15 years.
In 1960, she and Don Sturm were married and raised three children, Lori, Erick and Christy in Folsom. They owned and operated the Folsom Hotel for 30 years, making many new friends in the community. Yvonne was very outgoing with an energetic demeanor and great sense of humor, which drew people to her. She was a consummate cook, avid reader and placed great value in education. The family's yearly winter travels in their motor home throughout Mexico left precious memories and a unique cultural experience. Her vibrant personality, sharp mind, magnetic smile and contagious laugh will be missed by all.
Yvonne is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Don; daughter Lori and granddaughter Noelle; son Erick, wife Tasha, grandchildren Marina and Zane; and youngest daughter Christy. Charismatic, unwavering, determined and irreplaceable, she reminds us that "this too shall pass". Thanks for the memories Yvonne.
Yvonne was laid to rest on August 8, 2007 at Lakeside Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to the Sturm Family home at 708 Figueroa Street in Folsom.

I have only recently met Christy, and never had the opportunity to meet her mother, but I have been teaching long enough to recognize a fellow teacher who loves kids, and this love must have been modeled by her parents. Your family has my prayers.

I had the privilege of growing up with Christy and watching the love between Don and Yvonne first hand. Earnest and inspirational they both had a huge impact on my life. When I think of Yvonne, I see that brilliant smile, contagious laugh, and that saunter.... You were a special lady that will be deeply missed.

Don and Family:
Our family (the Sanchez family of Ophir) did not know of Yvonne's passing until very recently and we wish to express our deepest sympathy to each of you in the loss of your wife and mother. Yvonne was our neighbor and very much a part of our lives while we all grew up in Ophir. We have many, many memories of her as a youngster, young lady and grownup. I, personally, especially remember she taught me how to twirl a baton (she excelled as a majorette) and how to jitterbug. Being a few years younger than Yvonne, naturally I was so in awe of her and it made me feel so important to have her take time with me. Those are my personal favorite memories of her.

What a wonderful journey we have all had with Yvonne as a wife, mom, friend and sister-in-law.
I can only imagine the memories you all carry and the support these memories are providing for you. She is a strong, loyal person who will always be with us.

Our friendship with Yvonne goes back 47 years when she first married Don. Our memories are so many and we enjoyed her beautiful personality and fun loving ways. we will always hold her dear to our hearts.

I am so very sorry for the loss of such a wonderful woman who left so many great memories in my heart growing up. I'll never forget the trip to Mexico with Yvonne. She was a vibrant, confident, extremely smart woman who I've always envied. My heart goes out to you all.

I have been out of town for a couple of weeks and have just heard of Yvonne's passing.
Don, you and Yvonne were very dear to me. Yvonne was a special lady and she touched so many people.
She will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
