AUBURN | Charla E. Gummerson, 65, of Holley Street, Auburn, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015 at Crouse Hospital following an extended illness.
Charla was born in Auburn on June 24, 1950, the daughter of the late Charles and Lucille Quinn Gummerson. Charla was the office manager at Stanton Automatics; organizing and participating in the pool and dart leagues.
She was an animal lover, and she adored her dogs, Jack and Addie. Charla enjoyed cooking and spending time with her friends, Ann Torrance and Sharon Kilbury. Previously, she had worked at the Hofbrau Restaurant assisting her mother in the kitchen, and at Auburn High School as secretary for E. Perry Hicks. Her favorite place to be was at her camp on Cayuga Lake, with her happiest times being spent with her family, especially her niece and nephews.
Charla is survived by her loving and supportive family, her sister, Ellen (Joseph) Fiorenzo; her brothers, Craig (Linda) Gummerson, Lance Gummerson, and Al Gummerson; her niece, Ashley (Nick) Granato; her nephews, Marc Gummerson and Eric Gummerson, and her grand-niece, Zoey.
Charla was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Bret Gummerson in 2011, and her nephew, Sean Gummerson in 2003.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27 at the White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn. Services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn at the convenience of the family.
