AUBURN - Danielle R. "Dusty" Smith, 48, of Perrine Avenue, Auburn, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Danielle was born May 13, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of the late Daniel E. Laboon and his wife Barbara J. Vaccaro Laboon, of Auburn. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1972, and was employed as a waitress for 18 years at Webster's Restaurant, Auburn. She continued her education, receiving a registered nurse degree from Cayuga Community College, and was employed by Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center, as a nurse manager.
Surviving her, in addition to her mother, is her husband, David Smith of Auburn; one son, Christopher Smith of Auburn; one brother, Daniel Laboon and his wife Martha of Aurora; one sister, Cheryl Gillett and her husband Robert of Port Byron.
Danielle was a special aunt to Eric Gillett and Justin and Amanda Laboon.
Her father, Daniel E. Laboon, predeceased her on May 31, 2001.
Friends and family may call from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn. A prayer service will immediately follow visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Foundation, 3 St. Anthony St., Auburn, NY 13021; or a charity of one's choice in memory of Danielle.
Dusty put her heart and soul into her work as a nurse at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center. She will be missed by many because of her wonderful personality and her caring ways.
