Dorothy Quigley Obituary

Dorothy Spin Quigley

July 14, 1926 - August 17, 2025

Dorothy Spin Quigley, 99, formally of Auburn, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025, in Rochester. Born July 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Constantine and Julia Prochow Spin, and was a life resident of Auburn until a few short years ago. Dorothy was a graduate of Auburn's Central High School, class of 1944 and was employed with, and retired from General Electric. She was a Communicant of Saint Aloysius Church, and later Holy Family Church. In 1956, Dorothy married the love of her life, James Quigley. She always put her family first, devoting herself to raising her children and grandchildren. Dorothy was proud of her Ukrainian heritage, but after her marriage she considered herself "honorary Irish." She enjoyed Irish culture, listening to Irish music and was also a lifelong New York Yankees fan.

She is survived by her children; daughter, Susan Kinney (Bill); and son, Kevin Quigley (Lilia); grandchildren, Conor Quigley (Sima), Katie Hare, Brian Bannister (Christine), Sinead Power (Harry) and Ciaran Quigley; great-grandchildren, Wesley Hare, Madeleine Hare, Charlotte Hare, Finn Quigley, Keegan Bannister and Jamie Power; sister Anne Pesarchick; nephew Steve Pesarchick; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her late husband, James, Dorothy is predeceased by her brother, John Spin; and brother-in-law, Steve Pesarchick.

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered Friday, August 22, 2025, at 12 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St Joseph's Cemetery. A calling hour will be conducted prior to mass, at 11 a.m. in the church.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Jewish Home of Rochester for their loving care, kindness, and professionalism shown toward Dorothy during her stay there.

Susan and Kevin, sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. She certainly lived a long life. What a beautiful lady. I used to love seeing her at the grocery store when I lived in town. Always so kind. She was so proud of both of you. I was actually thinking about her recently and wondering how she was. God bless you.
