Edward Tanner Obituary

CATO - Edward L. Tanner, 68, of State Route 34, Cato, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at home. Edward was born April 17, 1943, in Auburn, a son to Harry D. and Ruth W. Perrault Tanner. He retired from the Town of Cato Highway Department in 2005. He loved to hunt, fish and garden, and was a dirt car racer and fan. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cindy; children, Paula J. Tanner-McConnell, of Boonville, Richard E. Tanner, of Elbridge; stepchildren, James A. Charbonneau, Michelle M. (Bill) Pealo, and Anne-Marie (Jay) Hoeck, all of Cato; nine grandchildren: Cassie, Brandon, Cory, Christine, Alyssa, Nicole, Brian, Natalie and Emily; one great-grandson, Caiden; brother, Milo Tanner, of Jordan; two sisters, Helen Tanner, of Port Byron, and Ann (Floyd) Tanner Fox, of Jordan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; infant son, Edward L. Tanner Jr. and sister, Margaret. Family and friends may join for a celebration of life to be held 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at the Cato American Legion Post 911. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in your area, in Ed's memory. Arrangements are entrusted to Keysor Funeral Service, Cato. Altho I didn't know Ed, I sure missed his vegetable stand this year - especially the butternut squash!
