George Green Obituary

George P. Green

George P. Green, 72, of Fleming, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Auburn Community Hospital.

Born in Fleming, he was the son of the late Herman and Olga Malysa Green. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1971 as an alumnus of the first graduating class. A hardworking man, George spent much of his life behind the wheel, working as a truck driver for various local companies. He took great pride in his work, enjoying the quiet rhythm of the road and the chance to see the country he loved so much.

When he wasn't on the road, George found peace in the soil. A passionate gardener, he especially loved growing pumpkins and tending to his apple orchard, which he planted himself. Each harvest was a source of joy, not just for him but for the many friends and neighbors he shared it with.

George enjoyed traveling. Whether it was winding mountain roads, quiet coastal towns, or vast desert landscapes, George had a deep love for exploring the beauty of our breathtaking country.

A natural builder and fixer, he had a deep belief in doing things with his own hands. He rarely asked for help before trying it himself - and often, he didn't need to. One of his proudest accomplishments was building his own family home, a true labor of love, constructed alongside his family.

George is survived by his loving partner, Judy Lynn; two sons, Paul Green, Timothy (Melissa) Green and their mother Marsha Green; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Suzanne Green.

Visiting hours will be Monday, September 29 from 11am-1pm at Langham Funeral Home, LLC, 48 South St. Auburn., followed by a service at 1pm. Burial will be in Fleming Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Owasco Fire Depart., 7174 Owasco Rd., Auburn, NY 13021. Please visit www.Langhamfuneralhomellc.com to leave a condolence.

I have many fond memories of George from high school days. He was always witty and warm, and ready to have fun. And typically, always smiling. He was there for certain adventures that a group of us did, like trying to cut down the goal post at East High one night, or printing our own little humor magazine to pass out at the school. He was direct and real, sympathetic, and full of life. I wish I had kept up with him in later years, but I saw him at the last reunion and we had a good talk. My condolences to his family. He was a great guy.

There´s so much to appreciate about George. He always enjoyed a good laugh. It didn´t matter if it was an April Fool´s joke, a pun, a political zinger, or a silly play on words. And later in life he acquired the nickname - Jorge Verde - and he´d always chuckle over that.

He was also a master teacher who taught me to drive a manual transmission/stick shift. He didn´t mind, if I ground gears on his old Ford Falcon because if something broke - no problem - he could fix it.

He wouldn´t shy away from a good argument over politics or his beloved NY Mets. He was my go to guy to learn about and appreciating dairy farming.

Most of all he valued friendships and I´m grateful to have been his friend for 60 years!
