UNION SPRINGS - Gerald Joseph Crehan, 63, of Union Springs, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 24, 2005, in Orlando, Fla., while vacationing with his family.
Mr. Crehan was born in Auburn, the son of Harold and Dorothy Lamphere Crehan. Mr. Crehan lived most of his life in the Auburn area. He served four years in the Air Force Mr. Crehan received his degree from Cayuga Community College. He joined the New York State Department of Corrections in 1970, and retired in 1995 from Auburn Correction Facility as the Department of Corrections weapons instructor. In addition, he was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman.
Surviving Mr. Crehan is his wife of 39 years, the former Carol Flynn; his son, Sean L. Crehan, and daughter in-law, Brandi, of Auburn; his daughter, Susan Crehan Mills, and son-in-law, James W., of Skaneateles; and six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Crehan, LJ Mills, Stephanie Crehan, Connor Crehan, Carley Mills and Kiley Crehan, who all loved him very much; and a sister-in-law, Mary K. Flynn; nephews, nieces and cousins.
Mr. Crehan was predeceased by his brother, Ronald M. Crehan; grandson, Ryan Gerald Crehan; half-sister, Mary Rose, and half-brother, H. William Crehan.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday April 29, 2005 in the Heieck - Pelc Funeral Home 42 E. Genesee St. Auburn. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 9:30 AM in St. Mary's Church Auburn. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming.
Family has requested in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The American Diabetes Association, Syracuse Regional Chapter 1603 W. Genesee St. Syracuse, NY 13204-1949, in memory of Mr. Crehan.
