UNION SPRINGS - Mr. James R. Kelland, of State Route 90 N, Union Springs, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, in Auburn Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
Mr. Kelland was born in Auburn, the son of the late James F. and Myrtie Morris Kelland and was an Air Force veteran. He had been employed for many years by Boeing Manufacturing, working on several aeronautical projects in many parts of the country. For the past five years, he was the senior service engineer with Northrup-Grummin, a jet engine manufacturer on Long Island. Mr. Kelland locally was co-owner of J&B's Bar and Grill in Auburn, and the Woodlock Bar & Restaurant in Montezuma. He was a certified scuba diver, and as an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Cayuga County Sportsman's Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Cori A. Kelland of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Linda M. Adams and her husband, Bruce, of Union Springs, and Debbie A. Knuppenburg and her husband, Myron, of Union Springs; six nieces and nephews, Bruce W. Adams and his wife, Carrie, Jennifer Wiler and her husband, Brad, and Andrea Adams, all of Auburn, and James Knuppenburg, Ryan Knuppenburg and Chelsea Knuppenburg, all of Union Springs; a stepmother, Louise Kelland of Port Orange, Fla.; great-nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Farrell's Funeral Service Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Cayuga County Council, 7235 Mutton Hill Road, Auburn, NY 13021.
