DELAWARE, Ohio | Joseph L. Nanna, 47, of Delaware, Ohio, and formerly of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at his home.
A native of Auburn, he was the son of the late Nicola "Nick" and Rose Evangelista Nanna. Joey lived most of his adult life in Ohio, where he loved working and laughing with his friends at the Ferguson Construction Company. In his spare time, Joey enjoyed hanging out at home with his dogs Georgie and Bella, tending to his garden with his friend Marianne Dottle, and watching his favorite television shows. Joe's spirit and infectious smile will be missed by all those blessed to have known him.
Known to family and friends as "Little Joey," he is survived by his loving son, Dustin, and loving brother, Larry, both of Ohio. He also had a large, extended family including aunts and uncles, Domenico and Maggie Nanna, of Auburn, Michael and Huguette Evangelista, of Auburn, Vincenza Costellano, Giovanni and Teresa Manzari, and Maria Nanna, all of Casamassima, Italy; several cousins, Joseph (Christina), Anthony (Toni), and Steven Nanna, Joseph (Maureen) and Peter (Patricia) Nanna, Larry, David (Christine), and Steven Pucino, Elizabeth (Robert) Engl, Michael (Susan) Evangelista, and Laurie (Mark) Becker; as well as several cousins in Italy.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Lorenzo and Raffaela Evangelista; paternal grandparents, Giueseppe and Carmela Nanna; aunts and uncles, Harry and Mary Pucino, of Jordan, Stefano and Angela Nanna, of Cayuga, Giovanni Nanna and Rocco Castellano, of Casimassima, Italy.
Calling hours for Joseph will be held from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 at the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark St. Road, Auburn. Friends are invited to join the family for a service immediately following calling hours at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
