Josephine M. Staniszewski

AUBURN < Josephine M. Staniszewski, 94, formerly of 231 State St., Auburn, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, surrounded by her family, at the home of her niece in Somers, Conn. A resident of Auburn most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Staniszewski. Jo was a communicant of St. Hyacinth Church, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Beautiful Years Club. She was also a volunteer peroghi worker for more than 30 years. A former employee of Sally Ann Bakery, she was employed for many years by Polish Meat and Groceries until its closing. She was a graduate of St. Hyacinth"s School Class of 1926 and Auburn Academic Academy in 1930. Surviving is her niece, Judith (Robert) Siracusa of Somers, Conn.; her nephew"s widow, Mildred Sobus of Auburn; great-nieces, Maureen (Peter) Schultz, Cynthia (Art) Schiminske and Barbara Quimby of Auburn, Patricia Siracusa of Somers, Conn. and Anne (Matthew) Macro of Chester, N.H.; great-nephew, Robert (Toni) Siracusa of Hebron, Conn.; several great-great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-great-niece. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Stella Sobus and Helen Mazur; her brother, Joseph Staniszewski; and nephew, Raymond Sobus. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, in St. Hyacinth Church, by the Rev. Richard Murphy. Interment will be in St. Joseph"s Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Nicpon Funeral Home, 235 State St., Auburn.
