Karl Assmann Obituary

SYRACUSE | Karl R. (Dick) Assmann, 86, passed away Feb. 12, 2015 at Buckley Landing in Syracuse.

Mr. Assmann was born on Feb. 22, 1928 in Auburn, the son of the late Walter and Florence Halpin Assmann. Karl proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from ALCO in Auburn, and was a life-long sportsman and skilled carpenter.

Karl is survived by his wife, Bettyann Durling Assmann; his children, Dale Wright (Connie Patterson), Kathleen Clark (Wayne Anstadt), Steven (Nancy) Assmann, Sharon Assmann, Richard Assmann (Kevin Wolfe), and Lori Assmann (Chris DeChick); his grandchildren, Wesley and Nicholas Wright, Rachel Ashton, Heather Hoffner, Kaitlyn and Michael Assmann; seven great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Sharon Cartner.

A graveside service will be held in the springtime in Weedsport Rural Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Karl R. Assmann may be made to Disabled Veterans Charitable Service Trust, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Springs, KY 41076 or St. Mary's Church, 15 Clark St., Auburn, NY 13021.

Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport.
