Katherine Rivera Obituary

AUBURN - Katherine A. Rivera, 91, of Northbrook Heights, formerly of the Boyle Center, Auburn, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Rivera was born April 29, 1918 in New York City. She was the daughter of Walter Camier and Josephine Powers Camier. Katherine had formerly resided in the Locke area for many years and had been employed as a postal clerk with the U.S. Post Office in Locke. A devoted Catholic, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church of Auburn. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and would donate to others in need the hats and mittens she would create. Katherine lived for her family. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her. She is survived by her children, Raymond Jensen and his wife, Elaine, of Florida., David Jensen, of Texas and Henry Rivera Jr., Katherine Reed and her husband, Thomas, of Virginia, Michelle Petrosino and her husband Mark, of Auburn; her grandchildren, Eric, Renee and Steven Jensen, Sean, Chris and Lara Jensen, Caleb Reed and Merissa, Matthew and Michael Petrosino; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special friend, Barbara Rielly. She appreciated the wonderful and loving care she received at Northbrook ALF and Auburn Memorial Hospital, second floor staff. She lived her life on her terms and was a strong, feisty and independent woman. The example she set and the love she gave will continue to touch the lives of those who loved her. Predeceasing Mrs. Rivera was her husband Henry Rivera Sr. Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Church. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Fleming. There will be no public calling hours held for Mrs. Rivera. Contributions may be made to The Genesee Elementary Elf, c/o Tina Smith at Genesee Elementary, 244 Genesee St., Auburn, in memory of Mrs. Katherine Rivera.
