Lawrence Axton Obituary

MONTEZUMA < Lawrence F. Axton, 71, of Dwyer Road, Montezuma, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at Community General Hospital. Mr. Axton was born on Jan. 8, 1936, in Syracuse. He was employed by ALCO for 35 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed using his computer and watching his favorite TV shows. He was a member of the Falcons Sports Club. He is survived by his wife, Marilynn; daughters, Michele Axton, of Delray, Fla., Maureen (Tom) Canacari, of Buffalo; sons, Mark Axton, Martin Axton and Matthew Axton, all of Auburn; stepchildren, Sherri (Mark) Townsend, of Montezuma, Dawn (David) Waldron, of Port Byron, Darlene (Scott) Slayton, of Montezuma, Randy (Dawn) Smith, of Montezuma and Jeffery (Angie) Smith, of Cato; a sister, Carol Agusto, of Colorado; two grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Axton, in May 2006. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from the Audioun Funeral Home, 218 Main St., Port Byron. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, from the funeral home. Internment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Port Byron. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montezuma Fire Department, 8115 High St., Montezuma, NY 13117 or the charity of one"s choice.
