Michael Morabito Obituary

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - "In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."

Michael Joseph Morabito, 64, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on Feb. 16, 2017.

He was born in Auburn, N.Y., the oldest of three boys, on Feb. 9, 1953. He graduated from Auburn High School and went on to earn a business degree from Empire State College. He was a longtime member of the Auburn Purple Lancers. After a brief time living in Seattle, Wash., he returned to Auburn where he owned and operated an Italian delicatessen and later went to work for NYNEX in Syracuse. He and his family relocated to Atlanta, Ga. in 1987, through NYNEX and remained there until 1989 when they moved to Charlotte.

The day after celebrating his 64th birthday, Michael retired from a 30-year career in software sales that included leadership positions at companies such as Intel, Dell, Corporate Software, and ASAP Software. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, completing home projects, playing piano, and most importantly, spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, Mary Ann (DiCola) Morabito, he is survived by his son, Nathan Morabito (Kristen), and daughter, Christan Turner (Brian), all of Jonesborough, Tenn.; grandchildren, Natalie and Carmelo Morabito, and Ava Turner; mother, Ida Morabito, and aunt, Philomena Carnicelli, of Auburn; brothers, John Morabito (Darlene) and David Morabito (Patti), all of Auburn; an uncle, nieces and nephews, godchildren, and cousins; and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nate J. Morabito who died in 2011.

His memorial service will be conducted at noon on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Sacred Heart Church with calling hours from 10 to 11:45 a.m.
