FORT MYERS, Fla. | Michael J. Rafferty passed away June 9, 2014. Raised in Aurora, N.Y., he was the son of the late John A. and Rita (Nolan) Rafferty. Michael graduated from Southern Cayuga High School in 1972 and LeMoyne College in 1976.
He became a member of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and was later promoted to Assistant Bureau Chief of the Fort Myers office. He retired as Chief of Forensics earlier this year. During his years of law enforcement and crime scene analysis, he worked some of the most famous cases in Florida history. Michael had a wry sense of humor to combat the evil he saw at work.
