My Dearest Son,
How I miss you! I miss you so much. You were my rock. I miss your smile, your wit, your quirkness, yes, I said quirkness. Your birthday is coming up, and oh do I hate the birthdays and holidays. I know you are looking down on me protecting me. I am so very proud of you Son. I only wish you were walking thru the doors.
Saw your baby girl, over the Memorial Weekend. She is so so you. A mirror image. She has your wit, your humor. She even walks like you. God help us! A little Patrick doing the monkey dance. I so miss that dance. I miss you walking thru the door saying, "Mom, feed me I'm hungry"! "Hey, Mom! We are out of Mayo! What I miss most, is "Mom, I'm home! I miss you my Son and know that God must have needed another HERO as he called you home.
Love, your Momma

Hi my beloved son. I miss you so much that the pain will never go away. Uncle Mike passed on Easter Sunday. You are together again. Miss Pebs is fine. She is getting fat though. But your dog is in good hands. I wish that someone would pinch me and wake me up from this awful dream. My life has not been the same since God took you home. Not one day goes by that I don't think of you. I miss you with each breathe I take. I am truly happy for the 27 years you gave me. Rest in Peace, my precious son.

To Susan and family was just hanging around today and my mind was on Pat. I remember the days we were with him myself, george, corey and shaun well we will always remember those days. "Always keep your mom safe Patrick " yes Im talking too you and for you '''
Susan this is for you and I love you with all my heart and my heart is with you today .. Hope you get this message.
My Best Friend
Today I found a friend,
Who knew everything I felt.
She knew my every weakness,
And the problems I've been dealt.
She understood my wonders,
And listened to my dreams.
She listened to how I felt about life and love,
And knew what it all means.
Not once did she interrupt me,
Or tell me I was wrong.
She understood what I was going through,
And promised she'd stay long
I reached out to this friend
To show her that i care
To pull her close and let her know
How much I need her there
I went to hold her hand
To pull her a bit nearer
And realized that this perfect friend I found
Was nothing but my mirror.

War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.

To the Devoe Family,
I did not know your son personally, but I do know many people that did and from what I have heard, he was an amazing man. I was there at his services, just a few days after I returned from Iraq. From that day when I heard of your son, and saw the communitiy's support at the services, he has not been forgotten. Just know his memory still goes with us, even for those who did not know him(that's how great of a man he was). I am deploying again in a few weeks to Afghanistan and will not forget the braves ones before me. I will never forget a fallen Brother. Sincerely, Lcpl. Cooper

To all those who loved Patrick, and now are suffering the loss of a fine man and soldier,
My son is serving in the 501st PIR in Afghanistan. We know how dangerous it is, and how high the price has been. I remember the day Patrick was killed. I wrote my son that day because the war had become real for those deployed in the 4th Brigade. I later saw how they had named "Outpost Devoe" in his honor. I know that seems trite, but Pfc. Devoe will be remembered now for giving his life when others failed to even think serving their fellow man. The people in Afghanistan need our help. We had let them down in the past. This time our country came through with Pfc. Patrick Devoe and the elections are proof that they are on their way to a new way of life. Eight brave soldiers have now fallen from the rolls of the 4th Brigade. They have fallen in a remote land where thousands of men have died for vain and glorious causes throughout the centuries. Please be comforted that Pfc. Patrick Devoe laid down his life for liberties that will not perish, but will abide for generations to come. We as a nation will make sure that Afghanistan will never forget our loved ones who died that others may live.

Patrick, God bless you soldier and thank you for your brave and honorable service to a grateful nation and for paying the ultimate price for our freedom.. You are now in great company with God and so many other fallen heroes before and after you. On 5/6/08 my nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward was killed in action in Iraq and my final promise to him was to never forget him and our fallen hero’s, we will never forget their commitment and sacrifice. To the Patrick family, words cannot express the pain we now share, but our families will forever have a bond and we will be thinking of Devoe and your family and will keep you in our thoughts & prayers. Since the loss of my nephew I have written on every single legacy page of every fallen soldier and included a photo of my nephew. I encourage you to do the same to Aaron's page. I have done this to honor my nephew but to let you know your loved one is not alone and my nephew is with him and they are now in God's gracious hands waiting for us to join them one day. From the bottom of my heart please except my sincere condolences and may the memories of your Hero carry you through each day for he will never be forgotten!

And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor

Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to heal you as He gives comfort to you today and for the rest of your lives.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

To Susan and Family,
I am still in absolute shock over this news! Pat was one of coolest, most sincere guys I ever had the privilege to know! He was funny with a unique ability to touch all that new him and he had a strong dedication and love for his family and friends! I am proud to have known him if only for a few years!
What saddens me the most is that his baby daughter will never get to see how incredible he was! She should know that he is watching over her from heaven.
If he could talk with you all now, I believe it would be something like "Don't worry, I'm ok" along with one of his trademark sayings "It's all Good"
Susan if you are reading this... know that your son loved you more than you can ever understand. Pat and I had many talks when he came down and the bottom line is..."Moms Cool"! He loved you so much...and I am so heart broken for you, I pray you find the strength to carry on and carry on his legacy for his child...she needs to know he was more than a father, Pat is a hero!!
God Bless you and I pray peace finds you all!

I attended your son's arrival back home on Saturday. We had several scouts stand with flags to represent Cub Scouts in Cayuga County. We felt it important that the younger generation realize what a great sacrafice you son made for our country. My 8 year old turned to me at one point and said - He Truly Was a Hero, you can tell by all the people that are here to see him come home". We all send our prayers to the family and friends that they will get throughthis difficult time with all of the memories you have made over the years. God watch over you all.

We did not know Pat but we did stand near City Hall on Saturday to pay respect and watch the procession. We felt it was the least we could do after all he gave the ultimate sacrifice (his life). The feeling was one I can't explain. Thank you to our fallen soldier.

When I first found out, I was in denial. I couldnt believe I was living this night mare again so soon. Then I realized my nephew Sgt Jerry Bell, now has a buddy in heaven. My family knows the pain your feeling and the support that you need, and I want you to know Im here for you, everyone of you! One thing I truly learned from all of this and will maybe help one of you, is to remember 'ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG' xoxox fondly, Jodi Morgenthaler

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Sue and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when Sue was pregnant for Patrick, walking up and down Logan Street. I hadn't seen Pat for many years and then one day my daughter brings home some friends and Pat was one of them, so grown up, Mohawk and tatoos, I just couldn't believe it was him. Such a sweet young man, very polite and a happy person. Now he is gone again, I am so broken hearted. I wish you all well and GOD bless each and every one of you.
