Paul was my landlord after I graduated from College. I ended up living right across the hall from him in his mansion. I collected antique radios and he and I would talk about the old days of radio and film. He took me to his place on the west side where he had a movie theater inside a house and we watched some Laurel and Hardy if I recall. When GE started to close shop he made me promise to come back by sometime. I did once.. but that was way back in the 80s, and I bounced around the country ending up in upstate NY again, but never got back to see Paul.. My loss. RIP Paul

Paul will be sadly missed by our family. He spent many a Holiday with us and we enjoyed his company at many Birthday dinners. We were looking forward to celebrating his 100 Birthday on June 9, but he passed away just 2 months from making it. We also had coffee together nearly every morning for many many years at several resturants along Grant Ave and then at Pavlos in later years. May God be with you Paul, we'll miss you. Rest in peace.

My family has known Paul forever as he was a childhood friend of our father, they grew up together on Park Place. Loved visiting with him at FLLC when I would be visiting my mother. He always loved telling stories and was so friendly to all adding a smile to everyones face! May he rest in peace.

Paul was a theatre legend here in Auburn and I am proud to have known him. A friend and I recently visited Paul at his nursing home and enjoyed some quality time talking with him about Auburn theater history and looking over my photo collection of historic Auburn theatres. Paul still had a great memory and lots of wonderful first hand history to share. We left Paul with a photo of his beloved Palace Theatre that I printed for him and he was very pleased. Mr. Field was a great man who lived a remarkable life.
Auburn will miss you Paul.

We have experienced immense pleasure in knowing Paul for many years. Every conversation was a history lesson about the movie industry, as well as so many interesting anecdotes from his personal life.
We know that all he came in contact with are better for having known him.

Just two weeks ago I spent some quality time with Paul and we relived his theatre days through my photos.
Somehow all of Paul's treasured belongings had been lost in the shuffle from nursing home to nursing home. Paul had nothing left to show from his glorious past. Joe Borasky and I brought Paul a framed 11 x8 photograph dual of the Morgan being built and the last known photo of the palace before it closed.
I watched Paul as he held the photo closely and gazed at it much of the time we were there. For such a simple gesture he was so grateful.
Auburn has lost a legend that did much for the entertainment industry of our city. I am proud and grateful to have known him and to have learned some of his stories. We took video of our visit. I will pass along these stories so that they live on. Paul would have turned 100 in July and plans were being made for a birthday party.
So long Paul, You were a great man.
