AUBURN - Raymond J. Currier, 81, of 180 Franklin St., Auburn, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Currier was born in Auburn on Dec. 11, 1923, the son of Percy F. and Lina Leiger Currier. He was a graduate of Auburn High School and also attended Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. During World War II, Mr. Currier was a fighter pilot, serving as Second Lieutenant with the Army Air Corps. He was employed with Auburn Plastics from 1946 to 1981. Together with his sons, William, James and John, he founded Currier Plastics in 1982. He served as president of the company until his retirement in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 57 years, Josephine Raimonte Currier; his three sons, William and his wife, Mary, James and his wife, Crystal, John and his wife, Diane, all of Auburn; his grandchildren, Edward, Rebecca, Peter, Timothy, Christopher, Jennifer, Michael Currier and Nancy Williams; one great-grandson, Nathan Currier; his sister, Dorothy Hunt Nagle of Fla.; his brother, Robert (Viola) Currier of Auburn; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Currier was predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Hai and Evelyn Day.
Private funeral services for the family will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. Calling hours for the family will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday prior to the services.
Contributions in memory of Raymond J. Currier may be made to the charity of one's choice.
