MARIETTA, N.Y. - Raymond Joseph Motell, 81, of Marietta, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016 at VanDyne in Syracuse.
Raymond was born on April 8, 1935.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 57 years, Judy (Whaley) Motell; his four children which he was very proud of, Ronald E. Motell (Patti, Cody, Gina, Kiya, and Rocky), Douglas R. Motell (Geri Ann, Kyle, and Travis), Elaine M. Sciortino (Frank, Michael, Jennifer, Stephanie, Emma, Jonathan, Eva, Tia, and Taz), and Dennis M. Motell (Kara, Tyler, and Sydney); a sister, Lee-eta Motell.
Raymond has joined his beautiful granddaughter, Naomi L. Wells in heaven where they will live in eternity.
Raymond worked at Carrier Corporation, a very proud accomplishment for 37 years as a pipefitter in the maintenance department. He loved his yard to look very neat and polished, loved hunting and fishing in the day, and loved a big family garden for all to share. He also made the best jam in town!
Raymond served in the U.S. Army and was proud to be a veteran.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at the funeral home. Ray will be buried in Thorn Hill Cemetery, Rose Hill.
