EVANSTON, Ill. - Richard Cusack, the father of well-known actors Joan and John Cusack, who abandoned his own successful career as an advertising executive and became an award-winning screenwriter, has died. He was 77.
Cusack died Monday of pancreatic cancer in Evanston, Ill., near Chicago.

Cusack himself won an Emmy for his abortion documentary "The Committee" in 1971 - only one year after he abandoned advertising and established Cusack Productions.
