Portions of his work have been donated and can be viewed at the Springport Library, Union Springs High School, the Frontenac Museum, and the Union Springs Village Office. Bob was very proud of his family and his work and also had a passion for sailing, woodworking, photography, reading and is remembered for his attention to detail. Bob had numerous solo exhibitions to demonstrate his work and received national awards for recognition. Devoted husband to Janet for 57 years until her death, Janet was a diligent partner in research for Bob's work. In his later years, Bob was seen on Cayuga Street in Union Springs walking two miles daily enhancing his quality of life in his ninth decade of life. I have fond memories of Bob and Janet when I used to visit my grandfather who lived right next door to them on Seminary St. They used to invite me and my dad over for breakfast and they both were the warmest and most welcoming people you'd ever meet. I have a painting of Cayuga Lake he did and gave to my grandfather many years ago and I proudly display in my living room. It reminds me of my childhood days in upstate NY and the memories I had there.

I'm so saddened to read of the passing of both Bob and Janet. They used to stop by Treasury Drugs and Eckerds when they were visiting Myrtle Beach in the winter. They were both such very sweet and special people. We used to exchange Christmas cards for many years. I feel so lucky for having known them. Their names just popped into my head and I wondered what had happened to them. Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Sally: Even though we talked just after your dad passed, I just want you and your family to know how saddened I was to hear the news. When I was in Union Springs in November, I made it a point to visit Bob in the nursing home. The wonderful memories I have of you and I and your father will always be with me and I will cherish the calendars with his wonderful artwork.

All my prayers to you and the family:

Dear Sally, I was saddened to hear of your father's death. I remember so many wonderful Memorial Day picnics at your house on Seminary Street. I loved posing for your dad and earning that 50 cent piece - big money in those days. I know that the paintings my brothers have are very special to them. Your parents' friendship with mine was so important to them. Wishing you and yours the comfort of many happy memories.

To the family of Robert Doremus,
I had the pleasure of meeting Bob at Fox Lane apartments where my mother lived untill she passed in 2008. She considered him a great friend. We both just loved to listen to the stories he would tell about his wonderful life that he lived. He was a kind, intelligent, talented man and you all must be proud to call him your father, grandfather etc. May all of your fond memories of him bring you all peace and comfort at this difficult time.

Dear Sally and Family,
We were saddened to hear of Bob's passing. We've known him for many years and usually saw him at TUCC when we were visiting Union Springs. He and my mother were both Union Springs natives and friends from childhood (she was born in 1913 also).

My sister and I are fortunate that each of us has one of his paintings hanging in our homes.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Dear Sally and family:

I met Mr. Doremus while working at Karpinski, Stapleton, Galbato & Tehan and then again at Mercy Nursing Home where my aunt was residing.

Two things that impressed me:
his devotion to Janet and that
he was a kind, happy, and gentle man

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Sally and Family,

Learning of Bob's passing brought many memories of visiting your home and talking with your Dad in his studio. His descriptions of how he found images/subjects for his book drawings, and his use of photography to capture just the right details, were fascinating. I admired Bob, as I did my Dad, for walking himself to good health for many years. I had the good fortune to see, and talk with him, on most occasions when I visited Union Springs during the past 25 years.

My book collection includes signed copies of "Little Max the Cement Mixer" and "Road Builders," as well as copies of several years of his annual holiday post cards that were sent to my parents.

My brother, Jack; and sister, Chris, also send their condolences.

May your memories give you peace, Sally.

Sally and Family:
Please accept our condolences at the passing of your father. We have very fond memories of both your mother and father. I remember very well being across the street in Union Springs and your Dad would have all of the kids pose for his pictures. Later, I remember all of the wonderful times that we had at our house in South Carolina when they would come and spend the winters here. We have 2 very treasured pictures that your Father painted in our home. I remember the exhibit that we had in the museum and how humble your Father was at that very small tribute to a great and very talented man. Both your Father and Mother were wonderful people and I know that in the coming days and years you will remember them both fondly as will we.
