Robert Witherell Obituary
EDGEWATER, Fla. - Robert Witherell, a former resident of Weedsport, N.Y., passed away on May 7, 2018.
A graduate of Weedsport Central School in 1956, he served four years in the U.S. Navy instructing pilots on flight simulators. Robert attended William and Mary College and Old Dominion College for business administration. Married to Ruth Ann from Western Pennsylvania in 1962, he entered the professional service of the Boy Scouts of America for 19 years in the Tidewater area of Virginia, Washington, D.C. area, and south Florida area.
Robert was executive director of a large facility for disabled adults in Miami, regional director for Easter Seals in eastern Virginia, executive director for 6 County Easter Seals in California, development director for Council On Aging in Stuart, Fla., and foundation director for the National Education Foundation in Miami, Fla. He retired to eastern North Carolina, followed by a move to Edgewater, Fla.
Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Ann; two children, Charles married to Alicia and Holly with Eric, and two grandchildren, Jacqueline and Leif. He is also by two sisters, Edith in Fresno, Calif., and Carol, in Chugiak, Alaska, and brother, Charles, in Reno, Nev.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Settle-Wilder Chapel, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
