Samuel Scozzari Obituary

Samuel Ray Scozzari

April 9, 1937 - September 15, 2024

Samuel R. Scozzari, 87 of Troutman, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024.

He was born and raised in Auburn, NY and the son of the late Samuel and Josephine (Catanise) Scozzari. He later moved to Walworth/ Ontario, NY to begin his career and raise his family.

Samuel worked at Xerox Corporation as a systems analyst and later a manager for the company until his retirement in the early 1980s. After retirement from Xerox, he continued to consult for them for several years while also using his talents to build personal computers for small startup businesses.

After retiring, Samuel was an entrepreneur-he turned all his passions into a business or hobby. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, videographer, and musician. His other interests included Zumba, tennis, and mostly pickleball. He was a charter boat captain and taught hunter safety courses within Wayne County, NY. For years, he grew vegetables, especially his father's strand of garlic that he continued to carry on throughout generations. There wasn't a time he did not have his harmonica. He'd play in the car, at doctor's appointments, at his grandchildren's sports events, and in restaurants while they'd sing "happy birthday". Samuel was a family man and would attend every event he could for his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of an amazing 65 years, Joanne (Amico) Scozzari, brother Bob (Linda) Scozzari and sister Lorraine Raymond, his four loving children, Samuel (Lois) Scozzari, Louis (Joann) Scozzari, Robert (Darlene) Scozzari, and Joelle (Gary) Flatt. Also, 9 grandchildren, Jeremy (Katie) Schwenke, Brian (Mandi) Schwenke, Dane (Elizabeth) Scozzari, Brynn (Evan Odson) Scozzari, Taryn Scozzari, Tory (Sebastian LaForge) Flatt, Anthony (Elizabeth) Flatt, Isabella Scozzari, and Josefina Scozzari, 4 great grandchildren, Max and Von Schwenke, Leonard LaForge, Freya Scozzari-Odson, and another due in March of 2025, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Samuel was also predeceased by his sister-in-law Joyce (Amico) and her husband Anthony LoBisco.

Friends and family are invited to join the family Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. for Samuel's Mass of Christian burial at St. Therese Catholic Church, 217 Brawley School Rd, Mooresville, NC 28117. The family will receive condolences at the church at the conclusion of Mass.
