Shirley Dutcher Obituary

JORDAN | Shirley A. Dutcher, 79, of Jordan, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at Finger Lakes Center for Living. Born in Auburn, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ada Rice Baker. Following graduation from Port Byron High School, Shirley graduated from Auburn Memorial Hospital of Nursing in 1954. She was employed with Auburn Hospital as a nurse, retiring in December 1995 as the director of nursing education. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Spinning Wheels Square Dance Club. Shirley devoted her time to her family and was always the individual others turned to for advice and love. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert W. Dutcher; her four children, Lee (Michael) Dutcher, of Indiana, Linda (Glynn) English, of Jordan, Laura (Glenn) Harriger, of Illinois, and Lisa (Jim) Emerson, of North Carolina; a brother, Paul (Bunny) Baker, of Port Byron; five grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle, and Jordyn Harriger, Megan Emerson, and Nathaniel English and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers. Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Langham Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Auburn Community Hospital Auxillary C/O Judy Santillo, 17 Lansing St., Auburn, NY 13021, in memory of Shirley.
