Stan Martin Obituary

NEW YORK (AP) Stan Martin, a longtime New York radio personality and a cabaret expert, died on Tuesday from a stroke. He was 64.

Most recently, Martin worked as a master of ceremonies for cabaret shows in Manhattan and hosted a Web site, www.popstandards.com.

From 1992 to 1998 Martin served as program director for WQEW-AM, The New York Times' former popular-music station. During his tenure, Martin hosted a show on the station, inviting stars such as Rosemary Clooney and Tony Bennett into the studio.

Martin began his career in radio in 1959 at WDLC in Port Jervis, N.Y. He then worked for a number of stations in New York and Philadelphia.

Martin, whose original name was Stanley Martin Feuerman, was born in Manhattan and graduated New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. He later taught at NYU as an adjunct professor of communications.

He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Feuerman, and two sisters, Rochelle Levy Steinhardt and Pamela Findling.
