Theodore Finizio Obituary

AUBURN - Theodore T. 'Teddy' Finizio, 73, of First Avenue, Auburn died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Teddy was born Aug. 5, 1937 in Auburn. He was the son of the late Ralph Finizio Sr. and Delia Rightmire Finizio. He had worked at the former Hogan Soughan Dairy, Columbian Rope and Alco. On March 27, 1972 he began a career with the Auburn Fire Department and proudly served on the department for 27 years until his retirement on June 28, 1999. Teddy was a member of the Utopia Club and the Auburn Firefighters Retirees Association. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and hunting. He also looked forward to his annual camping trip with his brother firefighters. He was also a veteran of the National Guard. Teddy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Weins Finizio; two sons, Theodore Finizio Jr., and John Finizio, both of Auburn, two sisters, Virginia (William) Belko, of Skaneateles, and Loretta Huey, of Cato; two brothers, Ralph Finizio Jr., of Auburn and William (Jean) Finizio, of Marcellus; four grandchildren, Amy (Liberty) Tallman, and Edward and Sherry Towle and their mother, Linda Towle, Frances Finizio, and her mother Mary Collins; great-grandchildren, Brendon T. Finizio, Kayleigh, Jamie, Tayler and Teagen Tallman, and Eric Sapp; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Finizio was predeceased by his sister, JoAnn Look. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. Friends are invited to call on the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St. Auburn. Hey guys, we haven't seen each other in years, but please know that my memories of all of you are still bright and good. Please accept my sympathies. Teddy was always such a sweet person. 5 yrs. younger was a lot when you're kids, but he was always kind to me. I know he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
