Edna Jensen Obituary

Funeral services for Edna Jensen, 94, were hald Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church near Kimballton. Pastor Mdlodee Carstens of Marne Methodist Church officiated. Casket bearers were her grandchildren. Interment was in the Bethany Cemetery near Kimballton. Arrangements were entrusted to Ohde Funeral Home of Kimballton.

Edna Marianna, daughter of Laurits Peter and Dagmar Andrea (Mortensen) Lange, was born Nov. 14, 1914 in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa. She was the first born of the first set of three sets of twins. She attended country school in Sharon Township near her home and helped at home with the large Lange family. At the age of 13, Edna, along with her twin sister, helped in homes of other families.
On April 24, 1937, Edna was united in marriage with Anders Edvard "Ed" Jensen at the Lutheran Parsonage in Exira. They lived in Iowa Falls a couple years before moving back to Kimballton and were the parents of two children. Edna and Ed started farming on their own in 1945. Edna helped her husband with the milk cows and other livestock and also raised chickens. They retired from farming in 1974 and moved into Kimballton.
Edna was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Kimballton Senior Citizens and a life time member of You and Me Neighborhood Club. In her spare time she enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and was well known for her cinnamon rolls and homemade bread. Throughout her life Edna worked hard, but was always happy, especially when socializing with family and neighbors.
Edna and Ed entered Salem Lutheran Home in November 1998 when they were no longer able to live alone. Edna's health began to seriously deteriorate in mid August 2009, and she died at Salem Lutheran Home on September 9, 2009, at the age of 94 years, 9 months and 26 days.
Preceding her in death, were her parents, husband Ed and five siblings: Selma Walters; Emmert Lange; Franklin Lange; twin sister Elsie Bro and Myrtle Julesgaard.
Edna is survived by her children Don Jensen and wife Janet of Elk Horn and Verlene and husband Dale Larsen of Marne; 7 grandchildren: Amy and David Hoffmann and children Hillary, Travis and Ellie; Jerod and Jennifer Jensen and children Alexis and Skyler; Corey and Co quette Jensen and children Maizie and Cora; Jennifer and Jeff Cook and children Sean and Sara; Mindy and Aaron Poldberg and children Angel and Noah; Brandy Rudy and son Wyatt; and Kate and Josh Krause and son Tevin; five siblings: Irma Madsen; Mildred Weddum; Darlene Hansen; Dorothy Hansen and Kenneth Lange; and Ed's sister Babe Krogh; other relatives and friends.

My condolences. God cares and offers comfort. 2Corinthians1:2-4, "May YOU have ... peace from God our Father and [the] Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation."
