Larry Dee Mulford

Funeral services for Larry Dee Mulford, 79, were conducted by Pastor Kathy Kluis on Monday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. The casket bearers were Mark Mulford, Steve Mulford, Jason Mulford, Jake Mulford, Clint Stetzel, and Logan Stetzel.
Larry Dee Mulford, the son of Edwin and Rose (Lebeck) Mulford, was born Dec. 9, 1943, in Carroll, and died Jan. 23, 2023, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, at the age of 79 years, 1 month, and 14 days.
Larry was baptized with his twin brother, Gary, at their home by a Methodist minister. He attended the Audubon Community Schools then later received his GED. Larry was then employed by the Carlson Seed Company.
In 1964, he was united in marriage to Diane Johnson. They were blessed with two children Angela and Jeff. Larry continued at the seed company before he started working for Talbot-Carlson Incorporated. He worked at TCI for a number of years then worked for Audubon Oil Company. Later he was employed at the Alfalfa Mill south of Audubon until he started his own mowing and snow removal business. Larry operated his business for many years while also taking care of his mother. He retired then enjoyed his own home until he moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon for a brief time then moved to the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn.
Larry had been a member of the Presbyterian Church in Audubon. In his younger years he enjoyed playing football and baseball. Larry liked traveling to Council Bluffs, to try his luck at the casinos. He enjoyed driving around Audubon with his sister Carolyn and later with his special friend Karol Andersen. You could find him often setting in his easy chair watching old westerns and war movies.
Preceding him in death was his daughter Angela and husband Joe Wilson; his parents, Ed and Rose Mulford; his stepmother, Lucille Mulford; his sister Carolyn Mulford; his twin brother Gary Mulford; an infant nephew Brian Mulford; and his special friend Karol Andersen.
Survivors include his son Jeff Mulford of Exira; his grandchildren; Daniel Wilson of South Dakota, Josey Wilson of Osceola, and Jessica and husband James Fischer of Council Bluffs; several great-grandchildren; his aunt Geraldine Clausen of Fremont, Neb.; his sister-in-law Gloria Mulford of Elk Horn; his nieces and nephews Mark Mulford of Ankeny, Steve and wife Tracy Mulford of Elk Horn, Jason and wife Marcie Mulford of Ankeny, and Jennifer and husband Clint Stetzel of Audubon; great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
