Allen Haywood Obituary

MITCHELL, Ga.- Mr. Allen 'Hawk' Haywood, 78, of Washington St., entered into rest on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at the University Hospital, Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mitchell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Al Kurtz and Rev. Gus Smith officiating. Internment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Haywood was a native of Glascock, Co. and was retired from the Georgia D.O.T. after 30 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His survivors are his loving wife of 50 years, Mrs. Masie Whitehead Haywood of Mitchell; one son, Jimmy (Alicia) Haywood of Gibson; three daughters, Luann (Jimmy) Marsh of Louisville, Betty (Ricky) Sammons of Gibson, and Shirley (Tracy) Dixon of Wrens; one brother, Mr. Jack Haywood of Mitchell; three sisters, Marie Todd of Thomson, Jimmie Smith of Marietta, and Joyce Knotts of Atlanta; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers are Josh Whitehead, Jacky Haywood, Larry Tucker, Wes Haywood, Joey Wheeler, and Michael Reese. The family will receive friends at the residence and at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Sheppard Funeral Home, Gibson, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
