Baxter B. Vinson Sr.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Baxter B. Vinson, Sr. age 81, entered into rest Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Westlake Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Vinson was the son of the late Mr. S. Russell Vinson and Mrs. Cora Lou Gossett Vinson. Mr. Vinson moved to the Augusta area around 1950 and was self employed as a heating and air conditioning technician before he retired. He was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church and was a Mason at Granard Lodge No. 186, A. F. M. He was a kind and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Elliott Sons Chapel, 1134 Telfair Street with Reverend Phillip Hamilton and Reverend Paul Hamilton officiating.Committal services will be at 3:00 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jonesville, SC. Survivors include two daughters, Cerelia Fitzgerald and her husband, Tom, of North Augusta, and Christina Stephens and her husband, Daniel, of Augusta; one son, Baxter B. Vinson, Jr. of Augusta; three sisters, Geraldine Hamilton of Aiken, SC, Kate Jacobsen of North Augusta, and Betty Davis of Aiken, SC; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Vinson was preceded in death by a brother, Edward I. Vinson. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 22, 2005 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Sons, 1134 Telfair Street, Augusta, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904 or Alzheimer's Association of Augusta, 1899 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.
