We have all lost one of the last truly Southern gentlemen. It was always a delight speaking with him in person or over the phone. Long after his retirement from the Army he continued to support the military at Fort Gordon--especially at Christmas. He and the wonderful members of the Uptown Kiwanis Club never failed to remember our military children. My condolences to his much loved family.

Col Mulherin was an outstanding member of the Reserve Officers Association. He dedicated himself to the local high schools and college with our awards programs despite his age. We wish to extend our sympathies to his wife and family. Sincerely, LTC(Ret) Duane Richards, Georgia ROA

Neita: Mr. Mulherin was a friend and my mentor at Ga. Regional Hospital for 34 years! We both retired in 1999! He was a true advocate for Mental Health and I learned a great deal from him. He was always there for me in my decision making and always felt he led me in the right direction. I know you will miss him and he wil truly be missed in Augusta! Catherine Fulmer Varnadoe

Dear Neita and the Mulherin Family,
Rarely does one even have the privilege of being in the presence of a man like Brian Mulherin. I count it as a blessing to have known him and been mentored by him. He was my Executive Officer in the 382nd Field Hospital and taught me and many officers in the Army Advanced Course. As a member of Uptown Kiwanis Club it was sheer joy seeing him each week. Our children, Allyson and Walter, never missed a Kiwanis Christmas Party, and even after becoming adults they continued coming and sitting on Santa's lap. Tens of thousands of people that were fortunate enough to know Brian could share these sentiments. I've never had a personal relationship with anyone who made me feel the way Brian did. I loved him. God bless you Neita.

Brian has been a dear friend of mine since arriving to Augusta in 1992. I have the dollar he gave me for my son when he found out I was expecting 11 years ago. I saved it in my son's baby book where I wrote about Brian and how I hoped my son could be as much of a blessing in his life as Brian has been for so many. Those words were heartfelt when I wrote them and they still are as I share that with the family and friends who loved him as I did. He was a wonderful supporter of my career development work with students at the university and an incredible friend, colleague and role model. I feel very fortunate to call him a friend. Blessings to the family. Thank you for sharing him with us all of these years. We are most certainly better for it!

Mr. Mulherin was one of the kindest individuals I have ever come across. His value and worth to this society and his SHRM Family is immeasurable. His wit was so sharp and funny. When he would speak, all would listen. Prayers to his wife and family. He will be missed but will always hold a place in our hearts.

I met Mr Mulherin some 15 years ago or so working with United Way and at a part time job for Smith's Chevron. He was the most caring and humble a person you would ever want to encounter. If you did not have the chance to be touched by him in some way, you have missed out on one of Gods blessings here on earth. He will be truly missed. May God comfort you and your family in your time of loss, but His time of gain.

Dear Mulherin family:
Today I mourn the passing of a really wonderful man and great community activist in Augusta, GA. Brain was someone I could always count on during my 13 years as the Director for Adult Literacy for The Richmond County Board of Education and Augusta Technical College. He never missed a single one of our GED gradulations and he was a great motivational speaker to our students. Thanks Brian for everything...rest in pease, you will be dearly missed.
My condolence to the family,

Mr. Mulherin was much loved by patients and staff at Gracewood. I would see him when going to the post office and we would speak to each other. My prayers are with you and your family. A verse that I found says, "Your wings were ready but my heart was not." Feel comforted that he is with the Lord and is no longer suffering. Cheryl Pierce, Retired from ECRH

My prayers are with Neita and all the Mulherin family at this difficult time. We were all so blessed to have Brian among us for so many years, although we would have wanted him among us forever. He was such a wonderful Catholic gentleman and brother Knight and Hibernian. It was always such a pleasure to share his company as he regaled us with his wit and wisdom. He was involved in so many church, charitable and civic events throughout his life, and his incredible volunteer spirit will be missed by so many. He was a tremendous role model, but he set the bar so high that few of us can ever hope to rival his warm, giving spirit in this lifetime. I have no doubt that heaven is an even more joyous place now that Brian is there to regale them with his loving humor. May God surround all his family and friends with His loving comfort as we commemorate the passing of one of His angels from our midst.
